Siegmar Reinert is Professor of Oral and Maxillofacial Plastic Surgery and Head of the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at the University Hospital Tübingen, Germany.
After graduating in medicine and dentistry he completed his training in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery in Hamburg and Düsseldorf. Until 1995 he was Senior House Officer at the University Hospital Düsseldorf and from 1995 to 1998 vice chair of the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Plastic Surgery at University Hospital Bochum.
In 1993 he completed his Habilitation (PhD) in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.
From April 1998 he is Head of the Department of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery at University Hospital Tübingen.
From 2008 to 2010 he was President of the German Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and from 2012 he is secretary of the German Cleft Palate Craniofacial Association.
A major focus of his work is primary and secondary Cleft surgery including cleft rhinoplasty and reconstructive facial surgery. Together with the Department of Neonatology and Orthodontics he established the Center for Cleft Palate & Craniofacial Malformations at the Tübingen University Hospital.
