Dr. Grotenhuis has received his training as a pediatric cardiologist in The Hospital for Sick Children in Toronto, Canada. During his last year of training he was Chief Pediatric Cardiology Fellow. In addition to his core training, he has completed a year of subspecialty training in echocardiography with Professor Mertens in Toronto. He also completed his thesis on the application of cardiac MRI in the pediatric cardiology field.
In July 2016, Dr. Grotenhuis became a staff pediatric cardiologist in the UMC Utrecht/WKZ, with special focus on cardiac imaging. He has a strong research interest and is currently involved in the development of a new research line entitled ‘Advanced Cardiac Imaging Techniques in the Pediatric Cardiology Field’. In addition, together with his colleague Dr. Krings, he is co-organizer of the yearly ‘Utrecht Sessions’, an international pediatric cardiology conference in Utrecht.
