Krishnamurthy Bonanthaya is a Maxillofacial Surgeon, from Bangalore, India. He is a Professor at the Department of Maxillofacial Surgery, Bangalore Institute of Dental Sciences and is a consultant Surgeon at the Bhagwan Mahaveer Jain Hospital at Bangalore. He is the Director of the Jain Unit of Smile Train, which is a Multi-disciplinary, Cleft care center, treating about 600 patients a year. He is also Professor of Surgery at the University of Cinncinnati, Ohio, at the department of Maxillofacial surgery and is also the Program Director for the Fellowship in cleft lip and palate, which is affiliated to the Rajiv Gandhi Health University at Bangalore. He has been associated with the New York based Cleft NGO, The Smile Train since 2001 and currently serves as a member of it’s South Asian, Medical advisory board.
He is a former Editor of the Journal of Cleft Lip Palate and Craniofacial Anomalies, published by the Indian Cleft and Craniofacial Society (The ISCLP&CA) and also a former Editor of the Journal of Maxillofacial and Oral Surgery published by the Indian Maxillofacial Surgeons Association (AOMSI). He will be the President of the Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons of India (AOMSI) in 2019, the 50th anniversary of the Association.
